Ballyhoura Apple Farm is located at Clashganniv outside
Churchtown village in North County Cork. Maurice Gilbert is the full time
owner / manager of Ballyhoura Apple Farm and is busy developing this
exciting rural business by attending several farmers' markets throughout
Munster weekly as well as working on new product development and
marketing. In Spring 2006 over 1,000 apple trees were planted and a
further 1,000 were planted in Spring 2007. A further 2,500 were planted
in Spring 2008. The crop is pressed into apple juice and marketed
locally as Ballyhoura Pure Irish Apple Juice. One of the very first new
artesian Cider production licenses was granted to Ballyhoura Apple Farm
and small quantities of Apple Cider are now under production. Salad
Dressings are also being developed using only the finest Ballyhoura
Apple Farm produce. Ballyhoura Apple Farm at Clashganniv is a joint venture between Maurice Gilbert and Gerry Murphy.
