Great Gas Petroleum (Ireland) Ltd was founded by Gerry Murphy in the Market House in Churchtown in April 2005. GreatGas turned over almost 100 million litres of fuel in 2009. In June 2010 Great Gas Petroleum (Ireland) Ltd served 49 branded forecourts located throughout Ireland.
Since January 2009 GreatGas is part of DCC Energy which is the leading oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)
sales, marketing and distribution business in Britain and Ireland.
In the year ended 31 March 2009, DCC sold 5.3 billion litres of
product to c. 600,000 domestic, commercial, industrial and
agricultural customers from its extensive network of 230
depots located throughout Britain and Ireland.

The founding directors and shareholders of Great Gas Petroleum (Ireland) Plc - the company was originally a non-quoted Plc or public limited company - in April 2005 were Gerry Murphy, Michelle Gleeson (former managing director of Bruhenny Holdings Ltd) and Maurice Gilbert (see Ballyhoura Apple Farm). Ray O'Sullivan was appointed managing director and became a shareholder in January 2006.
Sharon Rankine is Financial Controller of Great Gas Petroleum. Sharon was formerly Financial Controller of the Market House Group. Sharon is assisted by Mary Morrissey.
